Houston Rockets player Steven Adams is now available as a bot opponent on Chess.com's Play Bots page. Standing at 6'11", Adams presents himself as the platform's tallest chess bot and carries a rating of 1500.

Adams has long been interested in chess. In March 2026, he appeared as a featured speaker at the MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference, where he visited Chess.com's space and met the Chessbrahs and IM Danny Rensch. His earlier involvement with the game became public in the summer of 2020, when he posted chess screenshots and messages on social media that included tactical positions like a smothered mate.

The bot launch timing aligns with the start of Adams' NBA season. The Houston Rockets face the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday, October 21 to open the 2026-27 regular season. Players can challenge Adams through Chess.com before that matchup takes place.
