Gambit collects chess headlines from six publishers and writes its own articles from those reports, so the story lives on Gambit as well as at the original publisher.
Where the news comes from
Gambit reads the public RSS and Atom feeds of Chess.com, the Lichess blog, FIDE, The Week in Chess, Rook Review and Chess News Network, then reads the linked report. Each Gambit article is written in our own words from that report. Drafting is AI-assisted. The draft is checked against the report, and it is dropped if it adds a result, a quote, a date, or a number that the report does not contain. Every article names the publisher and links to the original.
Who writes them
Articles carry a named byline: Mara Ellison, Jonah Adler, or Priya Raman. Each byline is a Gambit writer with a normal job title. The writer did not attend the event unless the article says so, and it only says so when the source report says so.
What Gambit adds
- Story grouping. When several publishers cover the same event, the stories are grouped so you see it once.
- Sections. Headlines are sorted into Championship, Tournaments, FIDE & Ratings, Community & Tech, and More.
- Morning briefing. Five stories to start the day.
- Calendar and ratings. A curated 2026 tournament calendar and the FIDE top 10.
How it stays current
Headlines refresh automatically every 15 minutes. New Gambit articles are written through the day from reports that do not already have one. The calendar and the ratings table are edited by hand, and the ratings are updated each month when FIDE publishes a new list.
Independence
Gambit is an independent project. It is not affiliated with FIDE, Chess.com, Lichess, The Week in Chess, Rook Review or Chess News Network, and all trademarks and articles belong to their owners. If you are a publisher and would like your feed changed or removed, see the takedown page.
