FIDE has begun filling key positions in its restructured administration following the announcement of its new organisational framework. Alina Dvoretskaya takes on the role of Secretary General and will lead the Federation's daily operations. Her responsibilities include executing FIDE's decisions and overseeing the coordination of work across the various departments.
The initial appointments span four critical areas. Marat Umutpayev, an international lawyer from Kazakhstan with experience in cross-border legal matters, becomes the legal officer. His work will focus on providing legal support and ensuring the Federation adheres to its own regulations.
Nadezhda Kravchuk moves into the External Relations and Communications position after holding several roles within FIDE over time. Her career progression within the organisation demonstrates the pathways for advancement that the restructured framework is designed to create.
Anton Zhuravlev, whose background includes extensive work organising major international chess competitions, heads the Events department. He will manage the planning and coordination of FIDE's competitions alongside tournament organisers. Grandmaster Pavel Tregubov, a former European Champion with international chess administration experience, takes the Sports position, where he will handle competition regulations and work with relevant FIDE bodies.
The construction of the full administrative team remains ongoing. FIDE is combining its existing staff with new professionals who bring specialised expertise. The Federation has opened applications from qualified candidates interested in joining and taking on additional roles within the administration.
