Viswanathan Anand, the 15th World Champion, has emphasized that artificial intelligence has become indispensable in chess preparation. In an interview with CNBC-TV18, Anand noted that computers surpassed human players over 30 years ago, making AI integration simply unavoidable for those serious about the game.
When discussing advice for young players entering competitive chess, Anand expressed that there is no realistic alternative to using AI tools. He pointed out that most aspiring players already work extensively with artificial intelligence because these systems have advanced so far beyond human capability.
Vladimir Kramnik, the 14th World Champion, offered a different perspective by arguing that AI will not replace human professional coaches in the near future. Kramnik emphasized the importance of coaches properly explaining the reasons behind player mistakes to their students. Meanwhile, chess education websites have proliferated online in recent years, with many offering AI coaching as their primary service, including Chess.com's Play Coach system available through paid subscription.
