The Salesforce FIDE World Championship Match has its commentary team. Grandmasters Peter Leko and Peter Svidler will call the action as Gukesh Dommaraju defends his title against Javokhir Sindarov in Geneva. The match spans 14 classical games, with the first game scheduled for November 24. FIDE announced the pairing on social media in early November.

Leko brings experience that few commentators can match. He faced Vladimir Kramnik for the classical world championship in Brissago, Switzerland, in the autumn of 2004. That 14-game match ended in a 7-7 tie, with Kramnik's victory in the final game preserving his title under the rules then in place. Few voices in the broadcast booth carry the weight of having played for the crown themselves.

Svidler's credentials rest on sustained excellence in chess. He has won the Russian Championship eight times, including his first victory at age 18 in 1994. His presence reflects a principle that world championship broadcasts demand the highest caliber of commentary available.

According to FIDE's ticketing page, the VIP Day Pass provides access to a VIP lounge where spectators can hear live commentary from both grandmasters. A Fan Zone will show live footage from the playing hall on a large screen. The reports reviewed do not specify which broadcast platforms or languages will carry their commentary, nor do they mention other commentators.

The match takes place at the Fondation Martin Bodmer in Cologny, Geneva, from November 24 through early December. Games begin at 15:00 CET on each playing day. The schedule includes rest days on November 27, December 1, December 5, and December 9. The first player to reach 7.5 points claims the title, with a 7-7 draw decided by rapid and blitz tiebreaks.

Sindarov earned his challenger status by winning the World Cup and the Candidates Tournament in Cyprus, scoring 10 points from 14 games. He arrives in Geneva with a rating lead over the defending champion, the largest gap between world championship opponents since the title was unified in 2006.
