The FIDE World Junior U20 Championship will take place in Caracas from November 17 to 28, 2026. FIDE and the Venezuelan Chess Federation, working alongside the Ministry of People's Power for Sport, have announced an extended registration window for the event. All FIDE Member Federations are invited to send competitors to compete in this youth championship.

Each national federation can register two invited players, with one spot allocated per category. Federations wishing to send additional players may do so at their own expense. Players with personal participation rights under FIDE regulations qualify automatically as invited players, including the top three finishers from the 2025 World Junior Championships and continental champions from the year before the event.

Further automatic qualification spots go to the top six Junior U20 players in the Open category and the top four in the Girls category based on the FIDE Rating List as of January 1, 2026. The World Youth Champions from the Under-18 and Under-16 categories in the year preceding the championship also earn direct entry. The extended registration deadline, including requests for visa support, falls on November 10, 2026. Federations must submit all registrations through official channels using the designated registration form.

The organizing committee has prioritized participant safety with comprehensive security protocols. National security measures include coordination with state security forces to establish a secure corridor around the venue, hotel security, and continuous surveillance of the playing hall. Every accredited participant receives included medical insurance covering their entire stay at the championship.

Medical services will be available on-site with a primary care center and a 24-hour ambulance stationed at the venue. The organizers have arranged controlled transfers, offering official transportation exclusively for airport-to-hotel-to-airport trips and tournament-related activities. Federations seeking additional details about the championship should contact worldjunior@fide.com.
