The Clutch Chess Champions Showdown event will take place in Saint Louis from 27 to 29 October, featuring Fabiano Caruana, Hikaru Nakamura, Praggnanandhaa Rameshbabu, and Javokhir Sindarov in an 18-game rapid tournament.

The tournament has a unique scoring system where wins become increasingly valuable as the tournament progresses, giving players opportunities to make up ground on the final day.

The competition will follow the same general format as last year's edition, with the four elite GMs playing three double round-robins, and victories worth progressively more points over the three days.

The lineup includes the two strongest US players of this era, Caruana and Nakamura, and two young players, Pragg and Sindarov, who have enjoyed considerable success in 2026, with Praggnanandhaa winning the Grand Chess Tour and Sindarov winning the Candidates Tournament.

The tournament features $425,000 in total prize money, including $125,000 for first place, with additional bonuses awarded for individual victories, and a jackpot funded by drawn games that goes to the eventual tournament winner.

The Saint Louis Chess Club will provide live coverage of the event through its YouTube and Twitch channels, with commentary from grandmasters Maurice Ashley and Yasser Seirawan, alongside broadcaster James Dash Patterson.
