Chess.com's Crazyhouse Championship opens the next phase of its Community Championships series. The variant challenges players to think differently about possession and control. In Crazyhouse, captured pieces enter a player's bank and can be dropped back onto the board during subsequent turns. This mechanic transforms how competitors approach defense and offense from the opening moves onward.

The event begins with qualifier arenas on November 5, using a 75-minute format with rapid time controls. Each arena winner advances to the final stage. Chess.com will monitor fair play throughout the qualifiers and may request players to participate in verification calls using dual camera setups. Participants who decline these safety procedures face removal from the tournament.

The championship concludes with an eight-player double-elimination final on November 6. Competitors will face off in best-of-four matches using the same rapid time control. Last year's winner claimed the Crazyhouse title after defeating an opponent in the final match, continuing a strong record in variant chess competitions.
