The International Chess Federation has announced a series of new appointments to reshape its organizational structure around the President's Office. The office, under the leadership of Adil Kozhikhov, will concentrate on executing the Federation's strategic goals while enhancing partnerships and coordination across national chess federations and key initiatives.
Emil Sutovsky takes the role of Chief Executive Adviser, managing FIDE's relationships with major strategic partners and steering important cooperative projects. Victor Bologan has been named Special Representative for Global Development, tasked with strengthening ties to national federations and overseeing the FIDE Development Fund while also directing modernization efforts through digital projects.
Dana Reizniece-Ozola serves as Special Representative for Social Development, designing and implementing programs that expand chess access and use chess as a tool for social inclusion. Her work will connect FIDE with national federations and external partners to advance these community-focused objectives.
Four additional officials have been appointed as Representatives of the President. Mohamed Al-Mudahka will strengthen international relations, while Akaki Iashvili coordinates special projects requiring dedicated support from the chess community. Willy Iclicki focuses on broadening participation, particularly among amateur players, seniors, and chess communities in smaller nations.
FIDE views these appointments as establishing a clearer framework for distributing responsibilities and delivering its programs more efficiently. The Federation expects that combining the experience of seasoned professionals in international chess with fresh management approaches will deepen cooperation with national federations and partners worldwide.
